Nacho Fries: Fry Force

Nacho Fries were coming back during the 2021 Olympics, with the campaign kicking off in the opening ceremonies. We knew there would be a lot of sports-centered advertising, so we decided to tap into the Tokyo part instead.

So we made an anime featuring Karen Fukuhara and other iconic Anime voice actors (shout out Spike Siegel, IYKYK) about a team of Mecha Pilots who save the world from Monsters drawn to the Earth’s surface by nacho cheese sauce.

Obviously.

Even with no real media driving to our :60, we still got over 840,00 views, 53,000 likes and 8,800 comments, making it one of the most engaged with Taco Bell spots ever.

And we saw an overwhelming amount of fan interaction. I particularly enjoy the hot take on who the true villains are, which got over 680,000 views on its own.

It was important to us to start telling new stories and in doing so, allowed our campaign to expand into new spaces. Partnering with Hololive, we were the first American company to feature a Vtuber. We worked with Gawr Gura, the world’s biggest Vtuber influencer with over 3 million followers and featured her as in Easter Egg in the spot.

Not only did her fans find her, they were pumped.

Anime is also huge on social, especially TikTok with over 294.5 billion views. We tapped into top Anime influencers to do what they do best.

With 927.9k views and growing for #FryForce, we saw fans start making their own content. Like this Rei inspired cosplay.
